Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will return to Bihar on Sunday for his third visit this year, signalling the party’s growing focus on the state ahead of the 2025 assembly elections. The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha is expected to attend two major political events during the one-day trip, alongside holding discussions with party leaders on seat-sharing within the INDIA alliance.
Rahul will land in Patna on Sunday morning and immediately head to Begusarai by charter helicopter, where he is slated to join the Youth Congress-led ‘Palayan Roko, Naukari Do Padyatra’—an outreach campaign addressing unemployment and forced migration from Bihar. He will also deliver a speech as part of the event.
Upon his return to Patna, Rahul will address the ‘Samvidhaan Suraksha Samellan’ at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall. Before departing for Delhi, the former Congress president will make a brief stop at the party headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram, where he will hold a closed-door meeting with senior state leaders. The agenda includes preparations for the assembly polls and ongoing discussions around seat coordination with INDIA bloc allies. Party sources said Rahul will seek ground-level feedback on potential candidates and constituencies.
The visit follows a recent virtual meeting chaired by Rahul on Friday, in which he interacted with all 40 newly appointed District Congress Presidents from Bihar. The leaders were tasked with ensuring victories for Congress and Mahagathbandhan candidates in the upcoming general elections. Sources said the party has decided to involve district leaders more actively in decisions around ticket distribution and alliance strategy.
Rahul’s visit underscores Congress’s intention to revive its organisational structure in Bihar, where the party remains a junior partner in the Mahagathbandhan but hopes to increase its influence by energising its cadre and consolidating anti-BJP votes.
