GAYA – The Department of Commerce & Business Studies at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) is hosting a series of events under the “People’s Choice Campaign – A Campaign for Vocal for Local,” as celebrated by the Ministry of Industry, Government of India.

Mohd. Mudassir Alam, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CUSB, informed that various programs are scheduled during the three-day festival under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh.

On the first day of the festival, the program commenced with a virtual lecture on “One District One Product and Geographical Indication” by guest speaker Manoj Kumar Singh, Chairman of the Eastern Region Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Prof. Brajesh Kumar, Chairman of the Department of Commerce & Business Studies, welcomed the guest speaker, emphasizing that the lecture aims to create awareness about the Vocal for Local campaign. Prof. Subramaniam Shanmugam, Dean of the School of Management and program coordinator, provided a brief introduction to the guest speaker.

During his keynote address, the guest speaker explained how the ‘One District One Product’ initiative contributes to industrial growth by decentralizing decisions. He highlighted its role in inclusive growth and its significance in progressing towards a ‘self-reliant India.’ Approximately 100 participants, including research scholars, postgraduate students, and professors from various university departments, attended the session. Dr. Rachana Vishwakarma, the Program Coordinator, expressed gratitude to Manoj Kumar Singh for sharing industrial insights and addressing academic queries.

The program, conducted by Simran, received a vote of thanks from Program Coordinator, Assistant Professor Dr. Pavas Kumar. The successful execution of the session was attributed to the contributions of all faculty members, including Renu and Dr. Pradeep Ram. Technical support and the smooth conduct of the session were provided by Anjali, Saket, and Aniket.

Following the lecture, the department organized a poster competition and an online blog writing competition. The blog writing competition focused on the topic ‘One District One Product and Geographical Indication,’ which saw entries from eight participants. Simultaneously, a Poster Competition on the theme ‘Vocal for Local’ engaged ten participants from different departments. Dr. Pradeep Ram conducted the program with the participation of other faculty members from the department.
