Patna: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an advisory to Indian airlines following Pakistan’s decision to close its airspace to Indian carriers. This move comes in the wake of escalating tensions between the two nations after the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the deaths of at least 26 individuals.
“The DGCA is actively overseeing the situation due to airspace restrictions. Airlines have been instructed to manage disruptions effectively and ensure timely communication with passengers. We are committed to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring safety.” DGCA said.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, announced that approximately 50 of its international routes will require longer flight paths due to the airspace restrictions, potentially leading to schedule adjustments. Flights to Almaty and Tashkent have been suspended until early May as a result of these constraints.
The DGCA’s advisory aims to mitigate passenger inconvenience by ensuring that airlines proactively manage the disruptions caused by the airspace closure. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about their flight statuses and reach out to airlines for assistance as needed.
