Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inspected the under-construction double-decker flyover on Ashok Rajpath in Patna, urging officials to complete the remaining work swiftly to ease traffic congestion and benefit students of Patna University.
Travelling by car across both levels of the structure, CM Nitish reviewed the progress and issued directions to officials on-site. The double-decker flyover, stretching from Kargil Chowk to NIT Mor, is nearing completion, with final touches underway.
Highlighting the importance of the project, the Chief Minister said the new infrastructure would facilitate easier movement for students and residents of the Ashok Rajpath area, offering relief from heavy traffic and associated noise pollution.
The flyover comprises a 2.2-kilometre-long upper bridge extending from Kargil Chowk to near Science College and a 1.7-kilometre-long lower bridge starting from BN College and running up to Patna College. The project also includes a connection near Krishna Ghat to assist PMCH commuters, with future plans to link it to the multi-level parking facility at PMCH.
Described as one of Nitish’s “dream projects,” the double-decker flyover aims to transform connectivity in the heart of the city.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his principal secretary, Deepak Kumar, secretaries Anupam Kumar and Kumar Ravi, Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited chairman Shirshat Kapil Ashok, and Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Animesh Parashar, among other senior officials.
