Land Fraud to Be Curb: Over 13 Lakh Land Records Linked to Aadhaar in Patna, Seeding to Be Completed by May 31

Patna: More than 13 lakh land records in Patna district have been successfully linked to Aadhaar under a drive by the Revenue and Land Reforms Department to curb property fraud and land disputes.

A total of 13,25,956 records have been linked so far, out of 17,45,257 applications received. Officials said the verification of the remaining 4,19,301 applications is underway, with 1,25,788 already verified and awaiting final linking.

The highest number of land records linked to Aadhaar has been reported in Paliganj and Masaurhi zones, where 75,121 and 74,855 records respectively have been seeded. Other areas making significant progress include Punpun (67,835 records), Bankipur (59,380 records), and Dhanarua (57,840 records).

The department has set a target to complete the seeding process by 31 May, with instructions issued to all District Magistrates to prioritise land records where jamabandi (land registry) is already completed. Employees have been deployed in zonal offices to accelerate the verification and linking process.

Officials said linking land records with Aadhaar is a crucial step to prevent property fraud, making it easier to detect illegal resale attempts and providing clear records of land ownership. They added that the move is expected to significantly reduce the number of land disputes.

Landowners can apply online through the Revenue and Land Reforms Department’s portal. Applicants must upload supporting documents such as a copy of the registry, jamabandi number, receipt, and land possession certificate (LPC) if available. Once submitted, the zonal office verifies the documents before linking the records to Aadhaar.
