Patna Air Quality Improves to Moderate Level as Pollution Remains Concern

Patna: Patna’s air quality has improved, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) registering at 97, placing it in the ‘Moderate’ category. This is a significant improvement compared to recent weeks when the city’s AQI reached ‘Poor’ levels.

The moderate AQI indicates that air quality is acceptable for the general population, though sensitive groups, such as those with respiratory or heart conditions, may experience mild effects. The primary pollutants contributing to the AQI are particulate matter, particularly PM2.5 and PM10. The current PM2.5 level stands at 33 µg/m³, and PM10 at 81 µg/m³.

Despite the improvement, Patna continues to face challenges with air pollution. The city remains one of the most polluted in India, ranking among the top cities for pollution levels globally. Experts advise residents to stay informed about air quality and take precautions, such as limiting outdoor activities during high pollution periods, especially for vulnerable groups.
