New Delhi: In his first public statement on Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a stark message to Pakistan and the global community, declaring that India has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and would not succumb to nuclear blackmail designed to shield terrorist activities.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi said, “India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. Those who shelter terrorism cannot hide behind nuclear threats.” He underscored that India had turned “the terror hotspot in the heart of Pakistan into rubble” in a swift three-day operation that, according to him, forced Islamabad to seek a ceasefire.
“Operation Sindoor is now India’s doctrine against terrorism,” the Prime Minister asserted, signalling a hardened stance and a policy shift that sidelines previous attempts at diplomatic engagement without clear accountability on terrorism.
He made it clear that India would no longer distinguish between perpetrators and sponsors of terrorism, vowing that any future engagement with Pakistan would be limited to the issues of terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot happen together. Blood and water cannot flow together,” PM Modi said, reiterating India’s long-standing position while sharpening the rhetoric in the wake of recent cross-border hostilities.
In a pointed critique of the Pakistani establishment, Modi accused Islamabad of nurturing terrorist groups and warned that Pakistan’s survival depended on dismantling its terror infrastructure. “There is no other path to peace,” he said.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to spotlight India’s growing self-reliance in defence production, stating that the country’s response to terrorism would increasingly be bolstered by indigenous weaponry.
“This is not an era of war, but it is also not an era of terrorism,” PM Modi said, underscoring his government’s intent to pursue a muscular foreign and defence policy while reinforcing India’s global image as a nation unwilling to compromise on security.
