Mahavir Cancer Institute And Ambedkar University Sign 5-Year Pact To Boost Cancer Research

Patna: A five-year agreement has been signed between Patna’s Mahavir Cancer Institute and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur to promote cancer research and provide hands-on research opportunities for university students.

Under the collaboration, students from the university will be able to conduct research on-site at Mahavir Cancer Institute, with two initial scholars—Pushkar Kumar and Raman Gaurav—set to begin projects focused on stomach and breast cancer respectively.

The agreement was formally signed by Dr Vishwajit Sanyal, Director of Mahavir Cancer Institute, and Dinesh Chandra Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Ambedkar University. A three-member delegation from the cancer institute, including Professor Ashok Kumar Ghosh, head of the research department, and Dr Arun Kumar, visited the university campus in Muzaffarpur to finalise the partnership.

Professor Ghosh expressed optimism about the academic benefits of the collaboration, noting the mutual value for both institutions. Dr Arun Kumar highlighted that the arrangement would also benefit students of the cancer institute, who will now be eligible to receive degrees from Ambedkar University after completing their lab-based research.
