Young Man Shot Dead In Patna After Voicing Fears Of Being Killed

A 24-year-old man who had warned his family he feared being killed was shot dead in Danapur, Patna, in a targeted roadside attack.

Patna: A 24-year-old man was shot dead on Wednesday evening in Danapur, Patna, just days after reportedly telling his mother he feared for his life. Roshan Kumar, a resident of Kothwan, was ambushed by three unidentified assailants while returning from a water park with friends, according to local police.

The fatal attack occurred around 6pm in Mustafapur, under the Khagaul police station area. The gunmen, riding a motorcycle and with faces concealed by towels, stopped Roshan’s bike mid-road, dragged him away, and opened fire. A bullet struck him in the arm, and despite attempting to flee into a nearby parked vehicle, he later succumbed to his injuries at a subdivisional hospital.

According to Roshan’s mother, Sangeeta Devi, he had expressed concerns for his safety for two days prior to the attack. “He kept saying he would be killed,” she told reporters, adding that he had previously survived a gun attack in January during a dispute over money. Police confirmed that a katta (locally made gun) and a motorcycle believed to be used in the murder were recovered from the scene.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed an investigation is underway and that a case has been registered. Authorities are also probing links to the earlier shooting incident.
