Patna: Residents of Jalalpur Heights in Patna’s Rupaspur locality are on edge following two back-to-back robbery incidents within 24 hours. While police were still probing the theft of jewellery and cash from three adjacent flats reported earlier this week, a fresh break-in attempt was reported late Wednesday night at the Annapurna Block of the same complex.
The latest target was flat number 604, owned by Pankaj Narendra Mohan, currently based in Australia. According to his domestic aide, Mantu Kumar, Mohan had left for Australia just a week ago. The robbers reportedly broke the main lock and ransacked the premises but allegedly found nothing of significant value to steal.
Meanwhile, Rupaspur police have been actively investigating the earlier robbery, in which gold jewellery and cash estimated at between Rs 25 – 30 lakh was looted from three flats. CCTV footage obtained from the building reportedly shows four individuals arriving on scooters and motorcycles, who were later seen heading toward Kothwan turn.
A formal complaint was lodged by Dharmendra Kumar Singh, resident of flat 401, and a case has been registered. Station house officer Ranvijay Kumar said police are analysing CCTV footage and pursuing leads to identify the culprits and track down their vehicles.
Residents have expressed concerns over the apparent lapse in security and are demanding increased surveillance in the area. Local authorities have assured swift action and heightened patrolling in the coming days.
