Nawada: For the first time after hosting more than 350 virtual programmes, the Vishwa Magahi Parishad, based in New Delhi, held an in-person World Magahi Conference in Daudnagar, Aurangabad, honouring five distinguished poets and writers from Nawada, Bihar.
The event was led by the council’s international general secretary Prof (Dr) Nagendra Narayan, national president Lalmani Vikrant, and renowned Magahi cultural advocate Dharmshila Kumari, also known as Magahi Didi. Poets Narendra Prasad Singh, Veena Mishra, Omkar Sharma Kashyap, Rajesh Manjhavekar, and Dayanand Gupta were felicitated with angavastras, citations, and garlands for their outstanding literary contributions and performances during the kavi sammelan.
The honour was celebrated by the literary fraternity in Nawada. Members of Navotsah Sahitya Sangam, including provincial president Utpal Bharadwaj, publicity head Nitesh Kapoor, and district minister Gautam Sargam, extended their congratulations to the awardees.
The programme also featured a keynote address by Dr Kiran Kumari Sharma, head of the Magahi department at Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, along with several other scholars and educators. Participants from across the country engaged in day-long discussions focused on the current state, preservation, and promotion of the Magahi language.
