Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Relief to Bihar; Orange Alert Issued for Six Districts

Storms and Heavy Rain Forecast in Bihar as Temperature Set to Dip; Orange Alert Issued in 12 Districts

Patna: Pre-monsoon thunderstorms have brought much-needed relief to Bihar, easing the scorching heat that had gripped the state in recent weeks. While northern parts of Bihar are witnessing heavy rainfall, southern regions, including Patna, are experiencing light showers and cooler temperatures.

According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, cloudy skies will persist across most parts of the state over the next 24 hours, accompanied by sporadic rainfall and wind speeds of 40–50 km/h at some locations.

An orange alert has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Bhabua, Rohtas, Aurangabad, and Arwal districts, where thunderstorms with wind speeds of 50–60 km/h are expected. Despite the weather changes, no significant fluctuation in maximum temperatures is forecast for the next five days.

Rainfall was recorded in several districts over the past 24 hours. The highest, 59 mm, was noted in Sonhalua (Bhagalpur). Other notable figures include:

  • 45.2 mm in Chhatapur (Supaul)
  • 44.2 mm in Imamganj (Gaya)
  • 44 mm in Benipatti (Madhubani)
  • 42.2 mm in Kishanpur (Supaul)
  • 39 mm in Jhanjharpur (Madhubani)
  • 37 mm in Thakurganj (Kishanganj)
  • 36.2 mm in Adapur (East Champaran)

Additional rainfall was recorded in Belhar (Banka) at 35 mm, Jale (Darbhanga) at 32.4 mm, Katoria (Banka) at 28.4 mm, Madhubani at 28.1 mm, Shambhuganj (Banka) at 26.4 mm, Sugauli (West Champaran) at 25.2 mm, Jhajha at 24.8 mm, and Sikta (West Champaran) at 24.6 mm.

Temperature Update

A drop in maximum temperature was reported in 17 districts, including Patna, where the weather turned pleasant with partly cloudy skies and sunshine. In Patna, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5°C and the minimum at 26.4°C. Gaya recorded a maximum of 35.0°C and a minimum of 25.4°C, while Bhagalpur stood at 34.2°C and 24.6°C.
