Vigilance Bureau Arrests Jaynagar Revenue Official Ajay Kumar Mandal for Rs 3 Lakh Bribe

Madhubani: In a major corruption crackdown, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Saturday arrested Ajay Kumar Mandal, a Revenue Employee-cum-Anchal Inspector posted in Jaynagar, Madhubani district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh in connection with a land mutation case.
Mandal was caught red-handed at his rented accommodation in Chitragupta Nagar Colony, Jaynagar, located near the India-Nepal border, about 200 kilometers from the Bureau’s Patna headquarters.
According to officials, the Bureau acted on a complaint filed by Indrajit Kumar, a resident of Jaynagar, who alleged that Mandal was demanding a bribe to facilitate the mutation of land records. The complaint was verified and evidence supporting the bribery demand was found during the preliminary investigation.
Following this, a formal case was registered and a team was constituted under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar Sagar. Despite Mandal’s repeated attempts to avoid detection by frequently changing the time and location for accepting the bribe, the vigilance team tracked him down and successfully conducted the operation.
Director General of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Jitendra Singh Gangwar, lauded the team’s efforts and announced a reward for the members involved in the arrest.
The accused is scheduled to be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur. Further investigation is underway.
