Bhagalpur/Patna: The Howrah–Bhagalpur Vande Bharat Express is set to undergo a significant shift in operations, as railway authorities prepare to establish a dedicated maintenance facility in Bhagalpur. Construction work has begun on a 500-metre-long pit line near the old yard at Bhagalpur railway station, with completion targeted within two months.
Currently, all maintenance for the Vande Bharat Express is carried out in Howrah. The new facility will enable the upkeep and cleaning of the train locally, potentially easing logistical constraints and opening the door to a revised timetable that better suits Bhagalpur passengers.
DRM speaks about the progression in work
Speaking on the development, Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Manish Kumar Gupta confirmed that the construction is progressing rapidly. Once the facility is operational and receives the necessary approvals from railway headquarters, maintenance work will shift to Bhagalpur.
Modernization of facilities
The pit line will be equipped with modern machinery tailored to the advanced needs of the Vande Bharat fleet, which uses more sophisticated systems than standard and LHB coaches. Dedicated staff will be trained to carry out the high-precision maintenance work the train requires.
