Siwan/ Patna: Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor, the driving force behind the Jan Suraj Party, on Tuesday declared that he is not aspiring to become Chief Minister of Bihar, calling it a “small dream” compared to his broader vision for the state’s transformation. Addressing a public meeting in Raghunathpur, Siwan, as part of his ongoing Bihar Badlaav Yatra, Kishor said he dreams of a day when people from industrially advanced states such as Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra migrate to Bihar in search of jobs.
“I am not sweating day and night just to become CM. I want to witness a Bihar where job-seekers come in, not flee out. Only then will I believe that true development has come to the state,” he said to a packed crowd.
Kishor also launched a scathing critique of the existing political leadership, asserting that voters in the 2025 assembly elections should prioritise education and employment over caste, religion, and freebies. “This time, vote not for caste or religion, not for Rs 1,000 or a bag of ration, but for the future of your children,” he said.
In a sharp prediction, Kishor claimed that two-thirds of current MLAs, irrespective of party affiliation, will lose their seats in the next election. “The people of Bihar are fed up with corruption and non-performing MLAs. A wave of change is coming, and within four months, a new political system will begin to take shape,” he said.
The Jan Suraj founder also used the occasion to indirectly criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bihar, questioning the outcomes of the much-touted Rs 1.25 lakh crore package. “Did Bihar not get that package? Or was it looted?” he asked, in a veiled taunt.
Recounting his decade-long political journey as an advisor to leaders like Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, and Lalu Prasad, Kishor said, “I helped ten leaders become chief ministers, but nothing changed for the people. Now, I have returned to advise the public—vote for your children’s future.”
