Madhubani: Shekhar Jha, a student from Madhubani district in Bihar, has achieved an All-India Rank of 28 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, securing 322 marks and earning a seat in the prestigious computer science programme at IIT Bombay.
Hailing from Rudrapur village in Madhubani, Shekhar completed his early education locally before moving to Madhubani town and then Patna for further studies. Later, he shifted to Delhi for his JEE preparation. Speaking about his journey, he credited his teachers and family for their constant support, stating that without them, the achievement would have been incomplete.
His father, Shyamnath Jha, and mother, Alpana Jha, live in the village and expressed immense pride in their son’s performance. His grandfather, Jeevanath Jha, who had served in government service, recalled that Shekhar had been confident about the outcome even before the results were announced.
“Shekhar has been dedicated to his studies since childhood. His dream was always to become an engineer,” his father said. After preparing with a coaching institute in Delhi, Shekhar cross-checked his answers multiple times and expected a good result, though the rank exceeded his expectations.
There is a sense of celebration not just in his family but across the village, where elders and children alike have praised him for bringing honour to their community. His success follows another significant achievement for the region—just days earlier, another student from Madhubani, Tathagat Avtar, topped the NEET exam nationally.
