BANKA – A young woman’s journey from a coaching class to marital distress has unfolded in Shambhuganj, Banka district. The student, who fell in love with her tutor, eloped against her family’s wishes to marry him. However, after two years of marriage, her husband’s behavior took a dark turn, leading to alleged physical abuse and financial neglect.

The woman, who attended coaching classes in a village in the Shambhuganj block, expressed her feelings to her tutor, leading to a forbidden romance. Despite familial objections, they chose to marry, facing restrictions on their interactions from their families.

The couple tied the knot in a temple in the husband’s village and began living together. However, discord emerged, particularly concerning matters of education. The distressed woman reported that her husband resorts to physical violence whenever she brings up the topic of furthering her education.

An incident occurred on a Thursday morning when she requested money to fill out the enrollment form for her B.A. Part 2. In response, her husband not only verbally abused her but also physically assaulted her when she resisted. Attempting to report the incident, she reached for her mobile phone, which he promptly snatched and destroyed.

Adding to the turmoil, the husband allegedly contributes nothing to household expenses. The woman questioned his actions, emphasizing that she never asks for money for unnecessary expenses and manages her household with her earnings. She lamented the lack of financial support from her husband, expressing the basic human desire for companionship and support in a marital relationship.
