DARBHANGA – Neena Singh has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first woman Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The announcement of her appointment to this prestigious position marks a significant moment for both the state of Bihar and the nation.

Neena, the daughter of Ganesh Lal Das, hails from Ganaun village in the Ghanshyampur block area of Darbhanga district, Bihar. She is an IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. Neena, who was previously serving as the Special Director General of CISF, now takes on the leadership role as the Director General, making her the first woman to hold this position in the force.

Born into a family of three sisters and three brothers, Neena is recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of law enforcement. Her dedication and achievements include being awarded the Police Medal in 2005. During her tenure as the Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), she played a crucial role in investigating several high-profile cases.

Her academic prowess is reflected in her collaborations with Nobel Prize winners Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo in Economics, co-authoring research papers that contribute to the field’s knowledge.

Having pursued her education in Patna and Delhi, Neena Singh’s ascent to the position of Director General has brought immense pride not only to her village but also to the state. Residents, local leaders, and the Panchayat head, Reshma Ara, expressed their joy and consider it a moment of good fortune for the community. The accomplishment of Neena Singh serves as an inspiration and source of pride for the Mithila region and the state of Bihar as a whole.
