Patna: Bihar Police has inducted 26 newly trained Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) after a convocation ceremony held at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir. The event marked the passing out of the 67th batch of trainee DSPs, with Director General A K Ambedkar presiding over the parade and addressing the officers.
Ambedkar, who took the salute and presented the certificates, shared insights from his 33 years of service, urging the officers to uphold integrity and learn from grassroots experiences during their one-year district-level training. Reflecting on his early years posted in West Champaran during 1992–93—a time plagued by kidnappings—he stressed the importance of working closely with ground-level staff to build a solid foundation in law enforcement.
The convocation honoured officers including Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari, Mohammad Shahnawaz Akhtar, Paurush Agarwal, Jyoti Kumari, and Harshita Rashmi, among others. These officers will now be posted across various districts in Bihar.
Academy Director R Mallar highlighted the academy’s adoption of modern training techniques focusing on crime investigation, cybercrime, disaster response, human rights, crowd control, and law and order. Physical fitness, psychological readiness, and moral strength were also core elements of the training programme.
Ambedkar noted that during his 3.5-year tenure, nearly 50,000 constables have completed training, and from July, training for another 21,000 recruits—10,000 of whom are directly recruited constables—will commence.
