Patna : Jewellery buyers in Patna can now check daily gold and silver prices on their mobile phones before visiting shops, following the launch of a QR code facility by the Pataliputra Sarafa Sangh.
By scanning the code, customers can access a webpage displaying the day’s per-gram rates for gold and silver. The initiative aims to make daily price information more accessible and help buyers compare quoted prices before making a purchase.
Customers often visit multiple jewellery shops to enquire about prevailing rates. The new facility is intended to make this process easier by allowing buyers to check daily prices in advance and plan their purchases with greater clarity.
Permanent QR Code To Provide Daily Rate Updates
A key feature of the facility is that the QR code will remain the same, eliminating the need for customers to obtain a new code every day.
Once scanned, the code opens a webpage where gold and silver prices are updated regularly. Customers can revisit the same page to check the latest available rates.
Manish Kumar, also known as Nandu Kumar, treasurer and media in-charge of the Pataliputra Sarafa Sangh, said the association had been sharing information about jewellery and bullion prices with customers for the past 50 years.
The digital facility has been introduced during the association’s golden jubilee year to make daily price information easier for the public to access.

QR Code Aims To Improve Transparency In Jewellery Shopping
The initiative is expected to help customers check prevailing gold and silver prices before entering the market. Buyers can use the information to plan their budgets and compare the rates quoted by jewellery retailers.
Access to daily prices may also help customers ask more informed questions about the cost of their purchases.
However, the displayed per-gram rate is not necessarily the final price of a jewellery item. The total bill may also include making charges, applicable taxes and differences arising from the purity of the gold or silver.
Customers should therefore check these additional components before completing a purchase.
Sarafa Sangh Introduces Digital Facility For Buyers
Pataliputra Sarafa Sangh president Vinod Kumar said customers would be able to find the current rates by scanning the QR code. He also described the initiative as a first-of-its-kind effort in India.
The facility introduces a digital method of sharing daily bullion prices in Patna’s traditional jewellery market. By providing a single point of access to updated rates, the association aims to make price information more convenient for customers.
The usefulness of the initiative will depend on regular updates to the webpage and how widely the QR code is made available to buyers across the market.
