Purnia: A video from Purnia district in Bihar has gone viral, showing students being beaten with sticks by an office worker at the District Registration cum Counselling Centre (DRCC). The students were there to register for the Kushal Yuva Programme, a state-run skill development scheme for youth.
The video shows a man, said to be an employee of the DRCC, hitting students with sticks as they stood in line for registration. Several police officers were also present at the spot but did not take any action to stop the beating. This has caused anger among students and the public.
Purnia MP Pappu Yadav shared the video on social media and strongly criticised the government. He said the registration centre had become a place where students are harassed instead of helped. The Bihar Congress also posted the video, saying that the Nitish Kumar government was using force instead of providing support to students.
Many people are now demanding action against the employee involved. Some students have claimed that they were even threatened when they tried to complain to senior officials. So far, the district administration has not made any public statement on the incident.
