Patna: In a significant move to address homelessness, 165 landless families in Danapur, Patna, have been granted legal rights to residential plots following an order from the Patna High Court. Each family received ownership of 3 decimals of land, amounting to a total distribution of 495 decimals. The land certificates were handed over in a public event held at the circle office campus in Danapur. These families had been residing for years along the canal road near Pataliputra station. A survey was conducted to identify the eligible beneficiaries, following the court’s direction to regularise settlements in the area.
Present at the event were Danapur CO Chandan Kumar and Block Pramukh Vandana Rai. Beneficiaries, including women like Meena Devi, Vimala Devi, Rajkumari Devi and Pooja Devi, expressed relief and hope for a stable future. “The administration’s goal is to ensure no family remains without shelter,” said Chandan.
