Muzaffarpur: A 33-year-old woman has alleged that she was gang raped and filmed in a drugged state after being lured with a false job promise in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, according to police reports. The incident reportedly occurred in the Ahiyapur police station area, and a case has been registered based on a Zero FIR initially filed in neighbouring Saran district. The woman, who is originally from Siwan district and currently resides with her maternal uncle in the Bhagwan Bazar area of Saran, told police that the assault took place after she was approached by a man during a bus journey from Chhapra to Muzaffarpur. Identifying himself as Praveen Shankar, the man allegedly offered to connect her with a job opportunity in Nagpur through his “brother-in-law”. Gaining her trust, the accused reportedly took her to a marriage hall in Ahiyapur, where another man was introduced as the supposed contact for the job. The woman said she was offered sweets and a cold drink, after which she felt dizzy and disoriented.
In her statement, the woman alleged that the two men then sexually assaulted her in a room at the hall and filmed the act. She was later threatened that the video would be made public if she spoke to anyone about the incident.After returning home, the woman remained silent for several days. It was only when her maternal uncle noticed signs of severe distress that she confided in him. With the family’s support, she filed a complaint at the Saran Women’s Police Station, which later transferred the case to Muzaffarpur under Zero FIR protocol.
Ahiyapur Station House Officer Rohan Kumar confirmed that a formal FIR has been registered against the two named accused, and a female inspector has been appointed to lead the investigation. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.The case has raised renewed concerns over the targeting of vulnerable women through deceptive job offers, as well as the use of blackmail through video recordings in sexual assault cases.
