Patna: Patna Women’s College continued its Orientation Programme for first-semester students on Tuesday, offering a second day rich in dialogue, inspiration and community building. The initiative aimed to familiarise new entrants with the institution’s academic ethos, cultural life and social commitments.
The day began with the College Anthem, taught and led by Dr Sister Nelsa A.C., Assistant Professor in the Department of English. The anthem, a symbol of shared identity, set a unifying tone for the sessions ahead.
Dr Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal and Head of the Home Science Department, delivered a session outlining the college’s vision, mission and objectives. Her address encouraged students to align themselves with the core values of the institution and maintain its traditions of academic excellence and ethical integrity.
A lighter note followed, as Dr Manjula Sushila conducted an entertainment and refreshment session that allowed students to relax, interact and build early peer connections.
Environmental consciousness took centre stage next, with Dr Sumeet Ranjan from the Department of Zoology stressing the importance of ecological awareness and sustainability. His talk served as a call to action for students to take responsibility for their surroundings.
The programme also showcased the college’s cultural vitality. Ms Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce and a key cultural coordinator, introduced students to the array of artistic and creative opportunities available, urging active participation. Dr Manjula Sushila, also Sports Coordinator, spotlighted the college’s focus on physical education. She discussed the role of sports in fostering wellness and teamwork, advocating for balance between academic and extracurricular engagement.
Institutional Social Responsibility was addressed by Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the History Department and another of the college’s Cultural Coordinators. She outlined the college’s outreach programmes, which focus on embedding social consciousness in the student body. The programme concluded with an address by Mr Alok John, Dean of National and International Collaboration and Consultancy Services. He spoke on the significance of human values and professional ethics, emphasising integrity, empathy and responsibility as foundational traits for both academic and personal life.
The event was moderated by Anushka Deo, Joint General Secretary of the Student Council (2025–26), and coordinated by a team including Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Ms Enakshi Dey Biswas, and Ms Puja Kumari—all central figures in the college’s cultural initiatives.
The day closed on a note of optimism, setting the tone for a semester rooted in purpose, participation and personal growth.
