Patna: The Election Commission has released the official calendar for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, beginning a four-month-long intensive revision of the voter list. The campaign started on June 25 and will conclude with the final publication of the updated electoral roll on September 30.
As per the calendar, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification from June 25 to July 26. During this period, BLOs will accept applications for adding names (Form-6), deleting names (Form-7), and making corrections (Form-8). The move aims to ensure an updated and error-free voter list.
From July 27 to July 31, all applications will be digitally recorded into the system. Officials will ensure no eligible voter is left out and that all entries are accurate.
The draft voter list will be published on August 1 and will be available at polling stations, panchayat offices, and online platforms. Citizens can file claims and objections regarding any errors or omissions between August 1 and September 1.
The resolution of these claims will be completed by September 25. The final voter list, after receiving clearance from the Central Election Commission by September 27, will be published on September 30.
This is Bihar’s first intensive revision campaign since 2003. The process also includes re-determination of polling stations, with a limit of 1,200 voters per booth to manage crowding.
Special focus will be given to first-time voters aged 18, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and migrant workers. BLOs will conduct camps in underserved and backward areas to boost participation.
Online application facilities are also available through the National Voters’ Services Portal, the Voter Helpline App, and Common Service Centres.
Strict monitoring has been mandated, with district election officers directed to review BLOs’ work regularly. Monitoring teams will inspect the process, and any negligence or malpractice will invite strict action.
The final voter list released on September 30 will serve as the basis for conducting the Bihar Assembly Election 2025.
