Patna: Police stations and police lines in Bihar that use more than 50 kilowatts of electricity will soon have solar power plants. This step is being taken to save energy and make police buildings more eco-friendly. Officials have started identifying such police stations and lines where solar plants will be installed first.
ADG (Modernisation, SCRB and Traffic) Sudhanshu Kumar shared this information during a press conference held at the Police Headquarters on Friday. He said that since 2007-08, new buildings for 1,014 police stations have been approved. Out of these, 737 buildings have been completed while construction is still going on at 277 sites.
He also informed that 80 police stations in Bihar do not yet have their own buildings or land. The search for land for these is in progress, but construction work at 34 sites has been delayed due to disputes. This year, 17 new buildings have been approved, and 37 buildings have been completed so far.
The ADG said that all new police buildings will have separate barracks and toilets for women personnel. Women barracks have been built in 545 police stations, and bigger barracks are under construction in 25 police centres. New buildings will also be built for 43 cyber police stations and 43 traffic police stations across the state. Construction for 28 new traffic police station buildings is going to start soon.
