Motihari/Patna: Motihari MP Radha Mohan Singh has urged railway officials to accelerate pending infrastructure projects in Bihar’s East Champaran district to enhance connectivity and passenger services.
Speaking at a review meeting in Motihari on Saturday, Singh highlighted the importance of completing the Hajipur–Sagauli new railway line and called for timely progress on redeveloping Bapudham Motihari station, yard remodelling, a washing pit at Jeevdhara station, and new road overbridges between Jeevdhara and Bapudham Motihari.
The meeting was attended by Bihar’s Sugarcane Industry Minister Krishna Nandan Paswan, MLAs Pramod Kumar and Shyam Babu Yadav, and senior railway officials, including East Central Railway General Manager Chhatrasal Singh.
Singh expressed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for introducing the Patliputra–Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, which now halts at Bapudham Motihari station.
General Manager Chhatrasal Singh reported that passenger amenities worth Rs 616 crore have been completed in recent years, while projects valued at Rs 299 crore remain in progress. He noted that the Sagauli–Hajipur line is being built at a cost of Rs 2,067 crore, with Rs 895 crore earmarked for works in East Champaran. Several trains have also been given additional stoppages at stations including Mehsi, Pipra and Chakia to improve local services.
Addressing the press after the meeting, Singh emphasised that swift completion of railway projects was crucial for improving travel and boosting regional development.
