Patna: A massive voter outreach campaign is underway in Bihar under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025 programme, with more than 2.25 lakh government staff and volunteers deployed across all 38 districts to aid the ongoing door-to-door voter list verification.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, the initiative aims to strengthen the accuracy and completeness of the electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections. The deployment includes 81,753 administrative personnel and 1,43,837 volunteers working closely with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the grassroots level. BLOs have been specially trained and are supported by sector officers and supervisors to ensure seamless distribution and collection of counting forms.
“The voter list verification is being conducted on a war footing,” He said. “We urge all citizens to cooperate with BLOs and volunteers by filling out the counting forms and participating actively in the campaign.”
The drive also includes an additional 20,603 polling station officials assigned to newly created polling booths, in addition to the 77,895 already in place. This expansion follows directives from the Election Commission of India to improve electoral infrastructure across the state.
Political parties have also been enlisted to ensure transparency and inclusivity. Over 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from various parties have been appointed to assist in cross-verifying the electoral rolls. The Election Commission has reiterated the importance of timely BLA appointments to avoid errors and ensure credibility in the voter list.
