Muzaffarpur: Tensions flared in Muzaffarpur’s Paru area on Tuesday after a teenage girl died by suicide, allegedly following the police’s refusal to register a case regarding a pornographic video that had been circulated online without her consent.
According to local reports, the victim’s family had approached the Paru police station to file a complaint, but no FIR was lodged. Following the girl’s death, outraged residents took to the streets in protest, accusing the police of negligence. Roads were blocked as demonstrators shouted slogans against the local authorities.
Police officers from Paru station, who arrived at the scene to control the situation, faced stiff resistance from the aggrieved crowd. With tensions escalating, reinforcements from nearby stations were dispatched to manage the situation.
Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the delay in registering the complaint or the circumstances surrounding the suicide. The incident has reignited debate over police accountability and the handling of cybercrimes against women in the region.
