Gopalganj: A new national highway is set to connect NH-27 with the Purvanchal Expressway, which will greatly benefit the people of Gopalganj and nearby areas. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, construction work is likely to start soon in Panchdevri, Kateya, and Bhore blocks of Bihar. The survey for the project has already been completed by the Madhya Pradesh-based company N-L Malviya and submitted to the ministry. Work will begin once the tender process is finished, and farmers whose land will be used will get compensation under the Land Acquisition Act.
As per the plan, a four-lane road of 1.1 km will be built from Tamkuhi Raj NH-27 towards Rakba, after which the road will continue as a two-lane highway into Bihar. Senior engineer Amit Kumar Kushwaha from KCPL said that the road from Tamkuhi to Rakba border will be 7.8 km long. In future, the two-lane section will also be expanded to four lanes. Currently, 30 metres of land has been acquired for the four-lane part and 24 metres for the two-lane section, where work is going on in 18 metres.
This highway is expected to change the face of Paschimanchal region in Gopalganj. It will help local people with better transport, promote business, and increase the price of land along the highway. Farmers in Bihar are contacting farmers in Uttar Pradesh to know about compensation rates, as UP farmers have received up to four times the market value for their land. Officials have assured that farmers in Bihar will also get fair compensation without any loss.
Panchdevri CO Tarun Kumar Ranjan said that he has not yet received details of land acquisition or compensation, but notices will be sent directly to farmers by the National Highways Authority of India. This highway is expected to bring major development, employment opportunities, and better connectivity to the entire region in the coming years.
