East Champaran: The Bihar government has taken an important decision to make life easier for villagers. From now on, birth and death certificates will be made at the panchayat level itself. This responsibility has been given to panchayat secretaries, who will issue these certificates from the panchayat government buildings. This new system will save villagers time, money, and effort.
In the first phase, five panchayats in Patahi block have been selected for this process. Computers and user IDs have already been provided to the panchayat secretaries by the Panchayati Raj Department. BDO Samrat Jeet said that the process of making certificates has started in these panchayats. Villagers can submit their applications at separate counters set up in each panchayat office.
Under this system, the panchayat secretary will check the applications and documents before issuing the certificate. Earlier, villagers had to go to the Block Statistical Officer’s office and wait in long queues, as there were limited staff to handle the work. Now, if an application is made within 30 days of birth or death, the panchayat secretary will issue the certificate. For cases between one month and one year old, the Block Statistical Officer’s recommendation is needed, while older cases will require the BDO’s approval.
This new system is expected to bring great relief to people in villages and make the process of getting important certificates much simpler and faster.
