Patna: A couple who came to Patna from Siliguri, West Bengal, in search of a job faced a big problem on Tuesday. The Rapido auto driver they had booked ran away with their mobile phone and ATM card. The incident happened near Khetan Market in the Pirbahor police station area.
Wahab Ali and his wife Roop Janu Necha had come to Khetan Market for shopping. They are living on rent in the Mithapur area. Wahab told the police that after shopping, they returned to their Rapido auto. It was raining and Wahab was getting many phone calls, so he handed his mobile to the driver for a moment. Suddenly, the driver ran away with his phone. The ATM card was kept behind the phone cover and had Rs 10,000.
Wahab, who also has a house and shop in Siliguri, came to Bihar for work and had friends here. One of his friends, Suraj Kumar from Patna City, helped him reach the Rapido office in SK Puri area. There they found out that the driver’s name is Abhishek Raj and his owner is Pappu Singh. After the incident, Abhishek has not taken any rides through Rapido. Since Wahab and his wife do not know Hindi well, Suraj wrote their complaint application to the police.
The police have started investigating the case. However, they have not found the couple’s mobile phone and ATM card yet. The couple hopes that the police will soon catch the driver and return their belongings.
