Patna: A one-day workshop aimed at enhancing digital communication and social media skills among government officials was jointly organised by the Bihar government and tech giant Meta on Wednesday. The initiative, held at the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) office, focused on promoting safe, strategic, and effective use of social media platforms for public communication and governance.

The training brought together Assistant Directors, District Public Relations Officers, and officials from various departments across the state. Led by Neha Mathur from Meta’s India team, the session covered key topics including cyber security, digital governance, visual storytelling, content creation, and the use of emerging formats like reels. Officials were also introduced to the role of automation and artificial intelligence in enhancing digital outreach.

A significant portion of the training centred on understanding platform community standards and content policies, aimed at equipping participants with tools to tackle misinformation and boost the reach of state-run schemes through tailored content strategies.

Director of the IPRD, Vaibhav Srivastava, chaired the session and emphasised the importance of using digital platforms to ensure transparency, counter false narratives, and strengthen public engagement. “The use of social media must be both secure and strategic. Officials must work to ensure government schemes reach the widest possible audience,” he said.

Participants also received hands-on training in social media analytics, digital campaign planning, content security, and public relations techniques.
