Patna: A six-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by his father in Patna after he ate before him at a local hotel, police said.
The incident took place in the Karbighiya area under the jurisdiction of Jakkanpur police station. The victim, Shani Kumar, had reportedly eaten ahead of his father, Prabhat Mahato, during a meal, prompting the assault.
Originally from Lakhisarai district, the family had been living in Patna where Mahato worked as a mason. Following the attack, the child succumbed to his injuries. Mahato fled the scene and is currently absconding.
Police registered a case early Sunday morning based on a complaint filed by the boy’s maternal uncle. The body has been sent for postmortem and a search is underway to locate the accused.
