New Delhi/Patna: With the Bihar assembly elections just a few months away, Congress leaders held an important meeting in Delhi on Monday. The meeting took place at Indira Bhawan and was attended by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and many senior leaders from Bihar. They discussed the party’s preparation, seat-sharing plans, and issues to include in their manifesto.
Bihar Congress State President Rajesh Ram said that the meeting reviewed all preparations for the elections. He added that they talked about which seats Congress is strong on and how to coordinate better with their INDIA alliance partners. Leaders like Krishna Allavaru, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Madan Mohan Jha, Dr Akhilesh Prasad Singh, and MPs Tariq Anwar, Dr Mohammad Javed, and Manoj Kumar were also present.
Congress is demanding 70 seats in the upcoming elections, just like in 2020. However, experts say RJD may give them only 50 to 55 seats this time. Senior journalist Indra Bhushan said Congress knows this but will try to contest from seats where it has a strong support base. Talks with RJD and other alliance partners are still going on and final decisions will be made soon.
Recently, the INDIA alliance parties have held five meetings to discuss their strategies. In the last meeting at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, they agreed on their manifesto points and how to work together at the district level. Congress leaders say they want to ensure they contest on seats where they have a good chance of winning so that the party can become stronger in Bihar again.
