Muzaffarpur: Two passengers were injured on Tuesday after stones were hurled at the Bihar Sampark Kranti Superfast Express, marking the fourth such incident in three weeks on trains running through Bihar’s Sonpur railway division.
The train, en route from New Delhi to Darbhanga via Muzaffarpur, came under attack shortly after it crossed Sonpur station and was approaching the Ganga Bridge. Among the injured was Mo. Tauqeer Raza, also known as Nanhe Ansari, a resident of Kharka village in Sitamarhi. He sustained a head injury, while a woman passenger seated next to him was struck on the right hand.
The victims received immediate medical attention from railway doctor Saligram Chaudhary at Muzaffarpur Junction. Raza later opted for further treatment at a private hospital. According to railway officials, he was travelling alone on a general class ticket from New Delhi to Muzaffarpur.
This incident follows a spate of similar attacks on trains in the region. Just a day earlier, stones were thrown at the Gorakhpur–Patliputra Vande Bharat Express (26502) between Madipur Yard and Bibiganj. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended a suspect at the scene.
Earlier, on June 30 and July 13, the same Vande Bharat Express was targeted in Motipur. Although the window glass was shattered in both cases, no injuries were reported as the seats near the broken windows were unoccupied.
