Bettiah: A 15-year-old girl was killed by her own family in Bettiah district of Bihar because she was in love with a boy. The incident happened on July 8 in a village under Srinagar Pujha police station area. Police said her father, uncle, and cousin were angry about her love affair and beat her to death.
After killing her, the family put her body in a sack and burnt it on the banks of Gandak river at Ghorahiya Ghat. They also washed the area with water to remove any evidence. Police registered a case on July 11 after watchman Iqbal Yadav gave his statement. He said he was on patrol on July 10 when he came to know about the murder in Pujha Bazaar.
The FIR names the girl’s father Sudama Mukhiya, cousin Kamlesh Kumar, and uncle Iqbal Mukhiya as accused. SHO Sanjeev Kumar said the investigation has started and the culprits will be arrested soon. Police have visited the house and are collecting more evidence in the case.
