Patna: The special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list has entered its critical phase, with only around 72 lakh voters left to submit their counting papers, the Election Commission has announced.
According to figures released on Tuesday, forms for 6,81,67,861 voters—representing 86.32% of Bihar’s total electorate of 7,89,69,844—have been collected so far, leaving just over 9% of voters outstanding as the July 25 deadline looms.
Deputy Director of the Election Commission, P. Pawan, said over 6.20 crore counting papers have already been uploaded to the Commission’s digital portal. From Tuesday night, a new online module is set to go live on the Commission’s website, allowing voters to check the status of their form submission.
Factoring in deaths, permanent relocations and duplicate entries, the Commission estimates that 90.84% of the voter base has now been covered under the form collection process. “Only 9.16% of voters remain to be reached before the cut-off,” Pawan noted.
Supporting the drive are 1.5 lakh booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties, each authorised to verify and submit up to 50 forms daily. Special camps have been established across 5,683 wards in all 261 urban local bodies to ensure no eligible voter is left out.
The process now moves into its third phase, with roughly one lakh booth-level officers (BLOs) preparing for door-to-door visits to collect forms from households where voters were absent during earlier rounds.
Voters also have the option to fill their counting papers online through the Election Commission’s ECINet app or the official website, where they can check their names in the 2003 voter list and connect directly with local election officials.
The revision exercise is key to finalising the electoral rolls for the crucial 2025 state elections in Bihar.
