Gayaji: Heavy monsoon rains lashed parts of Bihar overnight, triggering widespread flooding and major disruptions to transport infrastructure. In Gaya district, residential areas were inundated, a bridge was swept away, and debris from a landslide blocked railway tracks, affecting multiple trains.
The downpour, which continued through the night, left several areas of Sherghati town under water. A bridge connecting Palakiya Sherpur and Fatehpur collapsed under the force of floodwaters, cutting off road access between key localities. The Morhar river, which flows through Sherghati, swelled dangerously due to the rain.

In the nearby Imamganj block, agricultural land in Pakri Guria village was submerged after 24 hours of continuous rain, destroying paddy crops and leaving farmers in distress. Bodh Gaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site, also experienced flooding, with water entering homes in low-lying areas and forcing residents to endure difficult conditions.
The downpour also caused a landslide on the Gaya-Koderma rail route, where debris fell onto the tracks in the Baskatwa-Yadugrah valley section around 11pm. Train operations were immediately suspended on both up and down lines. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other personnel responded swiftly, launching overnight clearance operations.

By 6am, services on the up line resumed, with the down line restored earlier at 2am following the removal of debris.
Several trains were affected due to the blockage, including:
- 3010 Down Dehradun Express
- Hatia–Islampur Express
- Dhanbad–Firozpur Express
- Netaji Howrah–Kalka Mail
- Ganga–Damodar Express
