
Samastipur: A woman police officer in Bihar has been arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. The officer, Putul Kumari, was in-charge of the women’s police station in Samastipur. She was caught by the vigilance team while accepting the bribe on Saturday. Her driver, Guddu Kumar, was also arrested.
Rajiv Ranjan, a resident of Chhatauna village, had complained to the vigilance department. He said that a woman from his village had filed a complaint against him. After this, Putul Kumari sent him a notice and called him to the police station. There she demanded Rs 40,000 to settle the case but later agreed to Rs 20,000.
Rajiv Ranjan said he received the notice late and when he reached the police station, the officer misbehaved with him. He filed a written complaint to the vigilance department on 10 July. The team found his complaint to be true and decided to act immediately.
On Saturday, the vigilance team went to the women’s police station with Rajiv Ranjan. As soon as the officer took the money, she was arrested. The vigilance DSP said that she is being questioned and will be presented in court soon for further action.
