Patna: A special workshop on advanced lung function tests was organised at IGIMS Patna on Saturday. The workshop was held by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine to teach doctors and students about modern ways to check lung health. It was inaugurated by IGIMS Director Dr Binde Kumar and Medical Superintendent Dr Manish Mandal.
Dr Manish Mandal explained that lung function tests help doctors find out how well a patient’s lungs are working. These tests are useful in treating diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He told the students that these tests connect a patient’s symptoms with their lung problems, making treatment easier.
Many senior doctors attended the event. Dr Vamsi Krishna from Mumbai explained the use of modern lung tests. Dr Arshad Ejaz talked about advanced spirometry tests, which check how much air a person can breathe in and out. Dr Manish Shankar explained how cardiopulmonary exercise tests help in checking both heart and lung health. Dr Ashish D Sinha from Ruban Hospital also spoke about different types of lung tests.
The workshop was attended by hundreds of doctors and students. IGIMS Director Dr Binde Kumar thanked the Pulmonary Medicine Department for organising the event and said such workshops help improve patient care in Bihar.
