Patna: A day after removal of his party, RJD, from the Bihar government, former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad faced the heat as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched an interrogation in the Land for Jobs case on Monday. The veteran politician, accompanied by his eldest daughter Misa Bharti, arrived at the ED office in Patna at 11 am to answer a barrage of questions prepared by the investigative agency.
The ED had meticulously compiled a list of approximately 50 questions, of which 40 had been posed to Lalu during the interrogation. Sources revealed that the former Chief Minister responded mostly with yes or no answers.
While Misa accompanied her father to the ED office, she took a brief respite at the Dadiji temple located in front of the ED premises to offer prayers to Lord Krishna. Misa, demonstrating familial support, personally delivered food for Lalu to the ED office, and medicines were dispatched twice during the day.
Addressing concerns about her father’s health, Misa stated, “The whole country knows, and the people of Bihar also see that he is unwell, he needs the help of someone to move.” She expressed concern about Lalu’s ability to eat on his own and highlighted that ED officials were not forthcoming with information.
“Since elections are near, the PM is scared and will do such things only. This government can arrest my father also, but what will they get by arresting a sick man,” Misa said, attributing the situation to political maneuvering.
Later in the evening, Misa returned to the gate of the ED office, urging CRPF soldiers to permit her to meet her father. She advised supporters to remain calm to avoid unnecessary delays.
Reacting to Lalu’s appearance before the ED, RLJD President Upendra Kushwaha said, “How is it BJP’s fault. This case began when Lalu was the Chief Minister himself. Trial began, and he even went to jail for this… BJP hasn’t done anything new. Till the investigation is completed, this will go on.”
