Patna: In a high-level meeting to review preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Thursday directed officials to formulate a specific strategy for sensitive polling booths and ensure all necessary facilities are in place. The meeting, which took place at the Chief Secretariat, focused on the districts of the Saran division and included key officials like Director General of Police Vinay Kumar and Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal.

Meena instructed officials to ensure that all polling stations are equipped with essential minimum facilities, including pure drinking water, toilets, electricity, ramps, and proper signage. He also emphasized the need to keep a close watch on sand mafias and ordered a mission-mode crackdown on their operations, directing officials to hold separate meetings with sub-divisional police officers for this purpose.

For enhanced security, the Chief Secretary called for the immediate arrangement of police wireless systems, permanent checkposts, and the installation of night vision and automatic number plate recognition cameras at all entry and exit points. He further directed district control rooms to have an action plan ready to address any situation and take swift action in cases of heinous crimes. The Chief Secretary stressed that such incidents would not be tolerated and ordered the immediate issuance of non-bailable warrants for all absconding criminals.

Supporting the directives, DGP Vinay Kumar instructed officers to identify individuals who had disrupted previous elections and ensure their presence is monitored. He also ordered an immediate investigation into cases of illegally obtaining cartridge licenses for deceased persons, demanding a thorough probe into the matter.
