RJD Lockdown: MLAs Holed Up at Tejashwi’s Bungalow Till Bihar Floor Test

Patna: As the crucial trust vote for the NDA government looms, political parties are intensifying efforts to ensure the unity of their MLAs. Following similar moves by the BJP and Congress, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has convened its MLAs at a government residence allocated in the name of former deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.

The gathering, held at 5 Deshratna Marg on Saturday evening, saw MLAs instructed to gather essential items as they are expected to remain at Tejashwi’s residence until Monday morning, avoiding external contacts throughout the duration of approximately 40 hours.

In a bid to bolster unity ahead of the trust vote, RJD’s top leadership swiftly summoned all MLAs to Patna on Saturday morning. As MLAs began congregating at Tejashwi’s residence from various locations, the crowd swelled significantly by early afternoon.

Around 4:30 pm, Tejashwi and other senior party leaders engaged in discussions with the MLAs, stressing the importance of solidarity and refraining from contact with external parties. Following the meeting, MLAs were instructed to remain within Tejashwi’s residence until Monday, with strict restrictions on leaving the premises.

RJD MLA Chetan Anand and Legislative Council member Vinod Kumar Jaiswal confirmed that all but a few MLAs had assembled at Tejashwi’s residence by late evening.

Describing the atmosphere akin to a hostel, Chetan Anand highlighted the participation of approximately 73 out of the RJD’s 79 MLAs in the meeting. The absence of five to six MLAs was attributed to personal and health reasons, with prior notification provided to party leadership.

In light of the MLAs’ gathering, security measures at Tejashwi’s residence have been heightened, with strict regulations on entry and exit to ensure the safety and integrity of the proceedings.
