Patna : The trailer for ममता की छांव में, the latest Bhojpuri-language film starring Arvind Akela Kallu, was unveiled on Thursday, garnering a wave of emotional reactions online. Presented under the banner of Sur Music World Pvt Ltd, the film centres on a son’s deep attachment to his mother — a bond so powerful it comes to shape the course of his life.
The film, directed by Lal Babu Pandit, explores the complexities of maternal love through a character who is reluctant to distance himself from his mother, even as love and marriage enter the picture. The trailer, which quickly gained traction on social media following its release, has been praised for its emotional depth and Kallu’s sensitive performance.
Kallu, regarded as one of Bhojpuri cinema’s most popular young stars, appears in a layered role that reflects the theme of the film’s title, which translates to In the Shade of Mother’s Love. Speaking about the project, he said, “This film is very close to my heart. Life is incomplete without a mother, and through this character, I want to pay tribute to every mother.”
The story, penned by Manoj K Kushwaha, is brought to life with a cast that includes Aastha Singh and Pooja Ganguly as part of a love triangle involving Kallu’s character. Supporting roles are played by Neelam Giri, Mahendra Yadav, Sanjay Verma, Anoop, Vinod Mishra, Rajput Sweety, CP Bhatt, Sonu Pandey and Sonu Yadav.
Producer Surinder Yadav described the film as “not just a story, but an emotion”, calling it a cinematic attempt to portray the often inexpressible bond between a mother and child. “This film carries a family, emotional and social message,” he said.
Shot by DOP Shahil J Ansari, the film features music by Arya Sharma and lyrics by Krishna Bedardi, Ashutosh Tiwari, Shyam Ji Shyam and Shyam Ji Yadav. Action is choreographed by Dilip Yadav, with Kanu Mukherjee handling dance sequences and Ravindra Nath Gupta in charge of art direction. Gaurav Roshan serves as director, while Ranjan Sinha is the film’s public relations officer.
