Lakhisarai /Patna : The Bihar government has granted administrative approval for two major road projects in Lakhisarai district under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), paving the way for improved transport links across rural and flood-prone areas.
Announced on Friday by Bihar’s Road Construction Minister, Nitin Naveen, the two schemes will see the construction of new roads from Halsi to Mandave, and from Vidyapeeth Chowk to Mohanpur Path. Together, the projects will cost over Rs 44 crore.
The Halsi-Mandave road will span 10.35 km and is estimated at Rs 25.96 crore. According to the minister, the road will enhance connectivity for villages including Halsi, Mohaddinagar, Sethna, Behrawan, Geruapur Sanda, Shivsona, Dhira, Bardokhar, and Rata, and will improve access to the Jamui district border. It will also benefit students attending the Government Engineering College located in Shivsona.
The second project, a 5.15 km road from Vidyapeeth Chowk to Mohanpur, will be built at a cost of Rs 18.16 crore. This route will improve access for flood-affected communities in villages such as Rehua, Kishanpur, Ramchandrapur, Pipariya, Phulvariya, Surjichak, and Rahatpur. The road also serves educational institutions including the prominent Balika Vidyapeeth.
“These roads are crucial for local development, especially for ensuring better access to education and safer travel during monsoon seasons,” Nitin Nabin said. He has instructed the department to expedite the tender process and ensure timely execution of both projects.
The announcement is part of a broader effort to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote inclusive growth through better road connectivity in Bihar.
