Patna: Patna police have apprehended Divyanshu alias Anshu, a key suspect in the murder of sand trader Ramakant Yadav in Bihta, following a confrontation late on the night of August 15 near Nisarpura canal.
During the encounter, police shot Divyanshu in his left leg as he attempted to escape. He was immediately taken to Bikram Primary Health Center and later referred to Patna AIIMS for treatment, where he is currently under care.
Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, four live cartridges, a mobile phone, and a Jio dongle at the scene.
The murder of Ramakant Yadav, a resident of Dhana village, occurred on the evening of July 10. An investigation by a special SIT team had already led to the arrest of two other accused, Mantu Kumar and Bittu Kumar, while a minor was also detained.
Divyanshu, originally from Kab village, was arrested from Lucknow on August 15 with the assistance of Patna STF and police. Interrogations revealed that he had financed the murder of Ramakant. Police records indicate that 11 criminal cases have been registered against Divyanshu at Rani Talab police station since 2014, during which he was absconding.
SSP Kartikeya Kumar Sharma confirmed the details of the encounter and recovery of the weapon, emphasizing the ongoing investigation into the case.
