Patna: The upcoming Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna will soon have a special feature for children – 3D science films. Building Construction Department secretary Kumar Ravi, who inspected the site on Friday, directed that the new auditorium should be equipped for 3D screenings. He said this would give children a more exciting way to learn science.
During his visit, Kumar Ravi also checked the progress of different parts of the project, including the galleries, auditorium, dormitory and atrium area. He asked engineers and contractors to complete the remaining work quickly so that the Science City can be opened on time.
The Science City is being built on 20.5 acres near Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. It will have five galleries – B.A. Scientists Gallery, Basic Science Gallery, Sustainable Planet Gallery, Space and Astronomy Gallery and Body and Mind Gallery. Together, these will display 269 science exhibits on 26 themes. Work on the first gallery has already been completed, while others are still in progress.
The atrium has a statue of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a digital panel, a mural and a selfie point for children and visitors. A modern auditorium with 500 seats and a dormitory for 150 students and three teachers have also been built. Officials including Joint Secretary Ashutosh Dwivedi and chief engineers were present during the inspection.
