Buxar: The Bihar government has started several new projects to promote religious tourism in the state. Environment and forest minister Dr Sunil Kumar laid the foundation stone for Maharishi Vishwamitra Park in Buxar district. The park will be built on both sides of the Son Canal and will showcase the cultural and mythological importance of the region in a modern way.
The park will include a walking track, open gym, yoga park, amphitheatre, cable bridge, rural market, Zen garden, cafeteria and a play zone for children. A life-size statue of Maharishi Vishwamitra and a “Siddhashram Museum” will be the main attractions. Special technology will be used to treat waste and keep the area clean.
In Rohtas district, the minister also laid the foundation stone for the Gupta Dham Eco-Tourism Development Scheme, which will cost Rs 14.91 crore. The project will add a dharamshala, new entry gates, food stalls, toilets, and better water and electricity facilities, all powered by solar energy. Devotees will also be able to see a live telecast of the Shivling on a big LED screen.
Other projects include the renovation of Maa Mundeshwari Dham in Kaimur and Bihar’s first boathouse camp at Karamchat Dam in Rohtas. Dr Sunil Kumar said the aim is to promote faith-based tourism across Bihar and bring balanced development to all regions, building on the success of earlier projects in Rajgir.
