Patna: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati announced on Sunday that her party will contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections without any alliance, asserting that the organisation has finalised its roadmap for the campaign.
In a post on social media, the BSP chief said that detailed reviews of preparations, including the selection of candidates, were carried out over the past two days with senior officials. “In view of the decision to contest the elections on its own strength, the outline of the party’s various programmes in the coming days has also been finalised,” she said.
She instructed party leaders to work with “full alertness and body, mind and money” and address any shortcomings raised during the review. Programmes such as yatras and public meetings will begin next month under her supervision. National coordinator Akash Anand, central coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam, and the BSP’s Bihar state unit have been tasked with overseeing preparations.
Recognising Bihar’s size and political complexity, Mayawati said the state had been divided into three zones, with senior party members given responsibility for each. The BSP, she claimed, was confident of delivering stronger results in the upcoming elections, despite the shifting political landscape.
The BSP leader also noted that before Bihar, she had held similar review meetings in Odisha and Telangana, stressing grassroots organisation on the Uttar Pradesh model, with committees formed from district to booth level to expand the party’s mass base.
